Request to European Parliament

Subject: Request to address the alarming situation of animal mistreatment and poor living conditions in the tourism industry

Dear Honorable Members of the European Parliament,

We are writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation that deeply concerns many European citizens: the mistreatment and poor living conditions of animals in the tourism industry. As elected representatives of the European people, we urge your commitment to uphold the laws established by the European Community concerning animal protection and to take urgent measures to put an end to this animal suffering.

The tourism industry, which attracts millions of visitors to Europe each year, unfortunately has been marred by repeated cases of animal mistreatment and negligence. Zoos, circuses, tourist attractions, and animal rides sometimes subject animals to inadequate living conditions, confining them to restricted and inappropriate spaces, with limited access to water and proper nutrition.

Such inadequate living conditions inflict extreme suffering upon the animals, impacting their physical and mental well-being. Moreover, they are often compelled to work in unsuitable environments, enduring constant stress, which can lead to severe health issues, severe wounds including exhaustion, dehydration, heatstroke and death.

As political institutions of the European Parliament, it is our duty to protect living beings and ensure their well-being. Therefore, we implore you to take concrete measures to ensure strict compliance with existing animal protection laws within the tourism industry. This includes implementing regular and rigorous inspections to enforce animal welfare standards and imposing severe sanctions on those who fail to abide by these laws.

Additionally, we encourage you to actively promote ethical and sustainable alternatives within the tourism industry by supporting initiatives that prioritize biodiversity preservation and respect for animals.

Lastly, we request your efforts in raising awareness among European citizens about the issues related to animal exploitation in the tourism sector. Education and public awareness play a crucial role in fostering a society that respects animals and cares for their well-being.

We firmly believe that the European Parliament can play an essential role in animal protection and the promotion of animal welfare within the tourism industry. Therefore, we ask you to take concrete actions to address this urgent concern.

Thank you for your sincere attention to this critical matter, and we remain at your disposal for any additional information you may require.

Yours sincerely,
